I Vowed to Get Dressed More This Year–5 WFH Outfits I Wore Over and Over
Look, I’m not saying I’d trade my couch for a booth, but I wouldn’t mind an excuse to get dressed again once in a while. As someone who once completely accepted working from home in what were really just pajamas, I’ve developed a surprising aversion to it over the years.
Now, with many of us having to return to the office three to five days a week, days at home feel different. They are no longer the standard—they are somewhere in between. Rearranged days. And while the novelty of wearing half-assed outfits has long worn off, the desire to look and feel put together from 9 to 5 hasn’t. Even when we’re working from the kitchen table or quietly emailing from the couch, there’s still a foundation in dressing with intention.
Even though I get paid to shop for a living, I admit that finding clothes that strike the right balance—comfortable enough for home wear, luxurious enough for last-minute meetings—proves more difficult than expected. After a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a few easy, repeatable outfits that work just as well for work-from-home days as they do for coffee runs, quick errands, or unexpected Zoom calls (camera on).
1. High Sweat Set
It felt like I blinked and suddenly the sweat I once loved… tired. The good news? The brand is already gaining popularity, and the current version is much more sophisticated than its predecessor during the height of the COVID pandemic. Think structured knits, tailored silhouettes and intentional details. The secret to making them feel stylish? Accessories. A nice pair of earrings, a neat bun, or even a belt bag can instantly spice up a look—yes, even at home.

2. Silk Trousers and Crewneck
Silk pants may not be a viable alternative to sweatpants, but hear me out. Most come with an elasticated waistband and a relaxed fit, making them comfortable—and much more subtle. Pair it with a quality crewneck and a simple cardigan, and you’ll have an outfit that feels luxurious without having to try too hard.

3. Double Denim
Nine times out of ten, you’ll find me wearing baggy jeans and a big button-up. As counterintuitive as it may sound, these days I prefer jeans to sweatpants. It’s just as convenient, but makes me feel more productive. Add loafers or mules, and suddenly you’re dressed enough for coffee or a quick errand without changing a thing.

4. Easy Pants and Cardigan
Most of us don’t wear blazers at home, but an extra layer before a Zoom call can do wonders. That’s where a good cardigan comes in. It’s the ultimate in wearables: comfortable, forgiving, and instantly looks put together. Look for pants with an elastic waistband to keep the comfort factor high. If you know me, you know I love a good robe, and a cardigan is basically its socially acceptable cousin.

5. Cargo Pants and Sweater
Not to make this all about me, but a pair of cargo pants I bought on impulse last year ended up being one of my most worn pants. They somehow worked with everything and offered a welcome break from jeans when I couldn’t wear denim for the fourth day in a row. Just like silk pants, cargo pants don’t require much styling—a simple sweater or t-shirt can work perfectly.
