Book Deals for April 25th
I spent this weekend with my oldest daughter in Las Vegas (I grew up here so driving down to the valley will never feel like coming home) and in between watching magic shows and having fun dinners, we spent some quality time in the sun by the pool, which meant a lot of reading!
Here are some of my favorite book deals going on right now:

Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella – ebook – $1.99
Sophie Kinsella always comes up with the most ridiculous scenarios and then makes them hilarious. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud while reading the book. This is one of my favorite books. Emma spills all her secrets to a stranger she meets on a plane. But when the stranger becomes her new CEO at work, she realizes that the CEO knows all sorts of embarrassing things about her. How bad is it?

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (Vol. 1 – Vol. 5) by Beth Brower – audiobook – $2.99
I can’t believe the first 5 books are selling for under $3! If you’ve been here for a while, you know I love this series! I’ve read the entire series twice before it was published on audio and I’m really excited to try the audio version – wait until you hear all the narrators’ voices! And if you have trouble understanding physical books, let me tell you that audiobooks really help.

Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan – audiobook – $4.99
I LOVE Julia Whelan’s audiobook narration (she narrates Book Lover!) and the book he wrote (and narrated!) immediately became a best seller. This book is a lot of fun because it is all about the world of audiobook narration. The main character, Sewanee, used to be an actress, but has now turned to audiobook narration. She started her career in romance novels and he decided to leave them behind, but she was roped into doing one last romance project. This final assignment ends with the most popular male audiobook narrator in the romance genre, Brock McKnight. You’ll definitely want to listen to this one on audio! Noticed one brief scene of the door opening.

Third Gilmore Girls by Kelly Bishop – audiobook – $5.00
This is the first book I’m listening to in 2025 and the audio is a MUST! It has a very distinct Kelly Bishop voice – plus, it’s great to hear the memoir read by the author herself. It’s fast, exciting, and a great combination of things I know (Gilmore Girls!) and things I don’t (everything ELSE about her life besides being on Gilmore Girls).

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center – audiobook – $4.99
I love Katherine Center (her books have earned a spot in the Summer Reading Guide several times) and I think this might be my new favorite about a woman who is hired to help rewrite a screenplay with her idol screenwriter. Will sparks fly? OF COURSE THEY WILL.

Max and the MidKnights by Lincoln Pierce – ebook – $1.99
If you have a son who wants to read chapter books, but still wants some whole pictures – this series is a great option to pick up. Max’s dream of becoming a knight is very, very unlikely. However, he is forced to act when his Uncle is kidnapped by the evil King.

Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher – audiobook – $4.99
Fantasy isn’t usually my thing, but retell a tale and I’ll agree, especially one like this Snow Princess twist. A poison-drinking healer (yes, really) is called in to save a dying princess, but when the treatment fails, he follows the only clue he has to a dark and terrifying world hidden inside a magic mirror – where saving the princess may cost him everything.

What I Ate in a Year (and related thoughts) by Stanley Tucci – audiobook – $5.00
I LOVED his memoir (which talks about how food influenced his life), and this one sounds just as interesting – it follows Tucci over 12 months as he eats at restaurants, at home, abroad, and more.

Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention–and How to Think More Deeply by Johann Hari – ebook – $2.99
I was completely blown away after reading this one and couldn’t stop talking about it to anyone who would listen. This non-fiction book explores how we lose the ability to focus, both as adults and as children. And in turn, it influences how we act, make decisions, interact with others, and more. It provides some suggestions on how to regain your focus and attention and I loved every minute of it!

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
