Really Great Book Deals for the End of October

After a fun fall vacation in Boston and Vermont, it was great to be home and enjoy the late October weather.

We lit a fire for the first time this season and I kept coming out of the office to see my kids curled up with a blanket and a good book!

Here are some great book deals happening (including some fun Halloween deals!) this weekend:

Countdown to Halloween!: With a Story in a Day by Charles M. Schulz – e-book – $1.99
You all loved the Christmas advent book I shared earlier this month, so I had to show you this adorable Peanuts Halloween version too! It comes with 31 mini stories (one for each day in October leading up to Halloween). Even though this month has passed, the fun traditions will still start now and continue until next Halloween!

Hit Makers: How to Succeed in the Age of Disruption by Derek Thompson – ebook – $1.99
I always love a good non-fiction read and this is a VERY good non-fiction read. I’ve told many people about various anecdotes from this book, and as a blogger, small business owner, and consumer, it’s fascinating in so many ways. I mean, why is 50 Shades of Gray so popular? Why did the iPhone succeed when most people surveyed before its launch said they didn’t want it? This book talks about all that and more.

rose code book

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – audiobook – $6.99
Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to read any books by Kate Quinn. This story about three women recruited to become code breakers during World War II sounds interesting!

The Terrible Two

The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett & Jory John – audiobook – $3.99
Ella and I listened to it together a few years ago (all my kids listened to it and listened to the rest a million times) and it was hilarious about two boys trying to make fun of each other. Now, all my daughters can memorize the entire book because they have listened to it many times. (Plus, it’s a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make Yoto cards!)

range

Range: Why Generalists Win in a Specialized World by David Epstein – audiobook – $5.99
I feel like everyone probably needs this book, whether they are parenting or trying to figure out what to do with their own lives (the audiobook version is great – my husband and I listened to it!). Epstein takes you deep into the idea that generalists, not specialists, are more likely to succeed and how too much specialization can stifle creativity and innovation. Really thought-provoking and applicable.

talk as fast as I can order

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham – audiobook – $5.99
I love Gilmore Girls first and it’s a lot of fun. The audio version is also very pleasant to listen to because he read it himself.

Berlin Letter Book

The Berlin Letters by Katherine Reay – audiobook – $5.99
Growing up in the US with her German grandparents who left Berlin in the 60s after the Berlin Wall fell, Luisa thought her parents died in a car accident. Later in his work at the CIA, he discovers information that makes him question everything he knows about his family. Could his father still be alive and trapped in East Berlin? This gripping Cold War novel tells the story of a family torn apart by the Berlin Wall – told in dual timelines from the perspective of Luisa, and her father, Haris.

ghoulia book

Ghoulia by Barbara Cantini – audiobook – $1.99
Ghoulia is a zombie who lives with her aunt in a house on the edge of town and they never leave the house because they are afraid of running out of town. But on Halloween, when everyone is dressing up, it seems like the perfect opportunity to sneak out and pretend to be a normal little girl dressed up like a zombie. Will this work? This one is a lot of fun in terms of audio – lots of sound effects! Two other books in the series are also on sale. (Plus, it’s a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make Yoto cards!)

Click, Clack, Boo!

Click Clack Boo! by Doreen Cronin, illustrated by Betsy Lewin – audiobook – $1.99
I’ve loved the Click Clack Moo books since I was first introduced to them in grad school and this Halloween version is exactly what you’d expect from this duo. Interesting and funny. (This one is called Libro.fm, which means it can be used as a Yoto card!).

The Penderwicks in Spring by Jeanne Birdsall – audiobook – $5.99
We are SERIOUS Penderwick fans in our house (with four girls of our own, how could we not be?) and my girls listened to the entire series on repeat for a whole year – they are so sweet, funny and entertaining. This is the fourth book in the series and is just as great as the others!
