Emily from New Moon by L.M. Montgomery
It is written by the same author as Anne of Green Gables and I loved this trilogy as a young reader even MORE than Anne. When Emily’s beloved father dies, she is sent to live with two aunts and her cousin and life looks very bleak, so she seeks refuge in her beloved journal.

The Chosen One by Chaim Potok
My mom suggested I read this when I was trying to pick a book from my list my sophomore year of high school and I was very hesitant. And then I LOVED it. I think I need to read this book about family, faith, and friendship again.

Blue Castle by LM Montgomery
Whenever there is discussion about the best LM Montgomery books, this book comes up about a million times. If you want something old fashioned and fun, this is for you. It’s a perfect read, with just the right amount of romance.

Wolf Hollow by Lauren Holk
This one is set during World War II, focusing on Annabelle living in a small town in Pennsylvania. The audio version of Wolf Hollow is simply incredible, and listening to it was a truly immersive experience – I felt like I was in the hills of Pennsylvania, wondering who was wrong and who to believe. I listened to the whole thing in two days – it was SO good. (Full review here)

Betsy-Tacy Series by Maud Lovelace
This series is very sweet and follows these girls from when they were young through adulthood. Very fun and old fashioned.
