Lots of Book Deals for a Beautiful Fall Weekend

This week has FLYED – between Prime Day, the start of high school events for Ella, and a quick conference in Park City, I feel like I barely have time to breathe!

I’m excited for a quiet weekend before our fall holiday trip next week and I’m looking forward to taking the time to complete my current puzzles and my fall audiobooks!

Here are some of my favorite book deals happening this weekend:

FramedFramed

Framed by James Ponti – ebook – $1.99
Ella finished this series in a week! The book follows Florian Bates who is the only child the FBI Director has on speed dial (and a child many criminals would love to take care of). After moving to DC, Florian and his new friend Margaret uncover a mystery involving a major crime ring, the FBI and the National Gallery. It’s up to them to solve the mystery AND complete their homework.

Carrie Soto ReturnsCarrie Soto Returns

Carrie Soto Returns by Taylor Jenkins Reid – ebook – $1.99
I have read every book Taylor Jenkins Read has written and I think this is his best book. Carrie Soto is the best tennis star ever. He’s been retired for six years and now someone young and up-and-coming is gunning for his title. Well, Carrie Soto wasn’t going to let that happen, so she came out of retirement, asked her dad to coach her again, and she’s going to do everything in her power to try to defend that title (although being a 35-year-old tennis star isn’t the same as being a tennis star in her twenties). I devoured this entire book in one sitting in one afternoon. I like it very much!

the devil in the white castle bookthe devil in the white castle book

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson – ebook – $1.99
If you’re looking for seasonal October reads that tend to be a little spooky – these nonfiction novels sound great! I’ve been wanting to read this for almost a decade and now that it’s on sale, it might be a good time to pick it up!

Candy MakerCandy Maker

The Candy Maker by Wendy Mass – ebook – $1.99
The Candymakers is just the kind of book I wish my school library was full of. Funny, mysterious and smart. Four kids trying to invent a new candy, all keeping a secret? This book is a winner. (Full review here)

brave igrainebrave igraine

Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke – ebook – $1.99
My girls really enjoyed the book, ink heart, and they also liked another book about a little girl who dreams of becoming a knight (less intense and better for younger readers!).

Romantic ComedyRomantic Comedy

Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld – e-book – $9.99
Romantic Comedy is actually one of the few books I read TWICE – during a busy week last fall, I opened it to read my favorite scenes again and ended up rereading the whole thing. I loved this smart, thoughtful book about a writer for an SNL-type show and his relationship with a heartthrob musician who guest hosts.

meet me at the margin bookmeet me at the margin book

Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson – audiobook – $3.99
This is a cute and fun romance! An editor at Savannah’s dream publishing company requests the manuscript of a romance novel she was secretly writing behind the scenes, while working at another publishing company. He hid the manuscript in a hidden room, but then discovered someone had found it and started jotting down crucial edits in the margins. Not only is this mystery editor helping to make the manuscript better, but could it be that he’s also falling in love with her?

Skunk and Badger by Amy Timberlake – audiobook – $4.99
Having a roommate is bad enough, but getting a new roommate who is a skunk is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to Badger. Can these two opposites become friends? (Plus, it’s a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make Yoto cards!)

The Terrible TwoThe Terrible Two

The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett & Jory John – audiobook – $3.99
Ella and I listened to it together a few years ago (all my kids listened to it and listened to the rest a million times) and it was hilarious about two boys trying to make fun of each other. Now, all my daughters can memorize the entire book because they have listened to it many times. (Plus, it’s a Libro.FM deal so you can use it to make Yoto cards!)

statisticallystatistically

Statistically Speaking by Debbie Johnson – audiobook – $5.99
History teacher Gemma loves facts, statistics and solid order. Maybe because his past contradicts that. He thought about the baby he gave up at 16 every day and even more so now that “Baby” might be his new student. This one surprised me with how much I enjoyed it!

AJ Fikry's Life StoryAJ Fikry's Life Story

The Storytelling Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin – audiobook – $4.99
I just read this last September for the Everyday Reading Book Club and I’m excited to read it again! AJ Fikry is an angry bookstore owner who loses his money, has his rarest books stolen, and then finds a baby left on his doorstep. This book is a reader’s DELIGHT. (Full review here)

Ghoulia And The Nameless Ghost by Barbara Cantini – audiobook – $1.99
Much loved Ghoulia when we read it last Halloween. Ghoulia is a zombie who lives with her aunt in a house on the edge of town. In this episode Ghoulia and her aunt are throwing a New Year’s Eve party and one of the guests needs help! Will Ghoulia be able to save them? (This one is called Libro.fm, which means it can be used as a Yoto card!).

Click, Clack, Boo!Click, Clack, Boo!

Click Clack Boo! by Doreen Cronin, illustrated by Betsy Lewin – audiobook – $1.99
I’ve loved the Click Clack Moo books since I was first introduced to them in grad school and this Halloween version is exactly what you’d expect from this duo. Interesting and funny. (This one is called Libro.fm, which means it can be used as a Yoto card!).

The Warmth of Another SunThe Warmth of Another Sun

The Warmth of Another Sun: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson – audiobook – $6.99
One of my favorite book club reads of all time, this incredible book chronicles the exodus of nearly six million black individuals and families from Southern states to West Coast and Northern cities between 1915 to 1970 and focuses on three specific people who each left for different cities in different decades.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins – audiobook – $6.99
I wasn’t sure what to expect after that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (which I couldn’t get past)but this Haymitch prequel really hooked me and reminded me of the hold the original trilogy had on me! Set during the 50th Hunger Games, this is the story of Haymitch as a competitor in the Hunger Games 24 years before Katniss volunteers as a Tribute. This one is INTENSE and the audio makes me feel like I’m watching a movie.

Code Name TruthCode Name Truth

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein – audiobook – $5.99
I recently shared a post about my favorite historical fiction books and this book set during World War II definitely graced the list. It’s very different from any World War II book I’ve ever read AND it’s full of lots of twists and turns. I hope you will read it. (Full review here)
