Do you use the Chrome Library Extension?

Have you heard of Library Extensions for Chrome and Firefox?

It’s been around for years and I started using it four or five years ago – it’s amazing!

In case you missed it too, here’s how the Library Extension for Chrome or Firefox works. Because everyone should take advantage of this!

You download the Library Extension here. (Just click the button for your correct browser and it will do the rest – it will appear in your toolbar!)

Click the little button on your toolbar to add your library – you can add as many as you like which makes it even more useful!

Once done, every time you search for a book on Amazon, a small box will appear just above the purchase box on the right side and indicate whether your library has a copy!

(Note that since most libraries primarily purchase hardcover, the library may not show any copies if you view the paperback – click the hardcover option and then a box will appear).

Then simply click the “View” button and you will be taken directly to the book in your library catalog and you can request it.

How amazing is that?

The Library Extension isn’t PERFECT – for example, for my library, it never shows any books checked out – it shows that the library owns it, but every copy is not available, although that’s not true, but at least I know the library owns it and can click on it and request it.

And I love being able to see if other libraries in my area also have copies without having to search 3-4 different library catalogs.

Additionally, if you choose to add Hoopla to your search results, a digital copy will be displayed.
