A Day in the Life - Fall 2025

I love doing these A Day in the Life posts (I’ve been doing them since my oldest daughter was less than 2!) and it’s so fun to see how much life changes over time.

05:11. I wake up and wonder what time it is – it feels like it’s time to get up. I rolled over and turned on my watch and it was 5:11. There was no way I was going to miss more than an hour of sleep, so I went back to sleep.

06:30 My alarm goes off and I get up and quietly get dressed to exercise so I don’t wake Bart. After I brush my teeth and hair and put on my shoes, I go to the office and check email, reply to Instagram messages, and post snapshots of the day. One of the girls usually has Mandarin lessons at this time, but it was canceled for today. They didn’t set off the alarm, so my two little girls woke up at the normal time and wore pajamas. They pick up their school trash and start doing their schoolwork to get excited for the day.

07:20 I go for a short walk while listening to an audiobook and when I get home, I choose a 20-minute upper body workout video and do it at our gym.

08:05 Our bedroom door was still closed, but when I opened it slowly, I could hear Bart doing Duolingo. I headed to the bathroom and Bart came in a minute later. We both showered and got ready for the day, chatting about work, our kids, and the day’s schedule. Once that was done, I gathered up all the library books that were due and put them in the car along with two baskets of goodies to donate after we all rotated through seasonal clothing over the weekend.

08:50 I said goodbye to the girls, grabbed our HSA cards from Bart (I couldn’t find mine!) and headed to my dental appointment. It takes about 50 minutes and I watched most of it The Great British Baking Show on the ceiling TV while I get my teeth cleaned. When I was done, I ran to the library and handed in all my books and grabbed a huge stack of handles. Then I stopped by the donation center and went home.

10:20 I arrived just as the neighborhood kids showed up for an art trip. Tally was finishing her Smart Reading class, so while we waited for her, I started cooking breakfast (I usually eat earlier than this but didn’t have time for a dentist appointment, so I was hungry!). Tally finished Savvy and we all got in the car and I walked everyone over to the artwork and dropped them off, sending a quick text to my assistant asking if we could have a phone call to catch up on some work stuff and listen to my audiobook on the way home. When I got home, I added the rest of my breakfast ingredients to cook and immediately called my assistant. We chatted and cleaned things up, then I went back to the kitchen to finish my breakfast. Ani came to talk to me about her chemistry assignment. When he finished, I sat down at my desk to eat and work on this post.

11:15 I crossed a few things off my to-do list and then my girls came home from art and we dove right into history. After history, we read as a family and then have lunch as a family. Normally, the two younger girls would go to science but this week it was canceled so a friend came over just as we were finishing the family reading and she had lunch with us and then stayed to play games with the girls.

13.00 Bart and Ani go to the store to buy him new winter pants. I went back to my office to work.

14:15 Bart and Ani went home, bought three pairs of jeans, and Ani went to my mother-in-law’s house to do math. Bart and I chatted for a few minutes before I filmed some sponsored stories and a reel. I filmed my book club story and then filmed other footage (during this time, the kids kept coming to my house to play with my kids – I think I answered the door four different times!). Bart and Ella leave for Pickerball team practice.

15:15 I filmed another reel and edited it until I needed to take a phone call. I thought it would be a 15 minute call, maybe 30 minutes but we went over 45 minutes!

16:30 I posted this week’s book giveaway and filmed it and edited the rest of the reel. Tally comes home from church and shows off the mini pizzas she made. I followed this post and it’s 5:30! Usually I start making dinner at 5:00 but there’s a lot to do today. I take 5 minutes to plan tomorrow, post a snippet of tonight, then grab my headphones and start working on dinner while listening to my audiobook.

17:40 I set the table and unloaded the dishwasher (usually I have the girls do this, but with all these friends coming over, I gave them a break). I prepared dinner and it turned out my timing was right because Bart and Ella didn’t come home until 6.30. We sat down to dinner and chatted about our day and then studied the scriptures about the cookies Ani had made earlier for math at Bart’s mom’s house. Bart washes the dishes and the girls collect trash and recycling for pickup.

19:15 I opened several packages of Halloween costumes that had arrived and everyone tried them on. I told the girls to go downstairs to get ready for bed so we could finish watching Little lady (the 1994 version of course) in preparation for our trip to Boston.

19:45 We all curled up on the couch with blankets and Ella put her laundry in the dryer and we watched the last 45 minutes or so. Am I crying? 100%

20:30 After the movie, we moved on to read-aloud time. Ani French braided my hair while I read aloud (we were reading Code Name Kingfisher at the moment) and no one wanted to be done when the clock struck 9. Bart joined us for family prayer and we tucked the girls inside and cleaned up a bit.

21:30 Bart and I finished getting ready for bed and Ella joined us in the room to watch an episode Castle. We finished a little earlier than usual (10:13) and turned off the lights and turned on our sound machine. Bart and I prayed together and went to bed.
