We asked Alvi’s 7 brief questions to get to know him better.
1. What is the most inspiring and forming your approach to patient care?
The things that I learned from patients and their families – even when the news was not good, they wanted to know the truth and the doctor to be honest with them.
2. What is your favorite part of your job?
When patients start to be better and they can say their lives are better. That is the reason I keep doing my job.
3. What is your biggest fear as a patient?
There are times when the blow can be very paralyzed and, unfortunately, age is not a boundary. Every time I see a stroke patient, especially young people with a type of stroke that is very paralyzing, it reminds me of my own vulnerability as a human.
4. What do you do to get rid of stress?
I found very soothing music. I learned the power of music and art during my neurological training.
5. Dogs or cats?
I have two cats at home.
6. The last film you watch? Thumb up or down?
The Hunger Games – I really like that.
7. The best advice you have ever heard of?
There are patients who deal with their diseases, their difficulties with patience and grace, and they do not complain. And that was surprising to me. It tells me something about how we can handle our difficult situation and remain grateful for what we have.
