25 fun back to the school tradition
Do you have children who will soon return to school?
My four children began in the next few weeks and when I asked on Instagram for advice to have fun back to the school tradition, they poured it! There are so many fun ways to celebrate this annual milestone.
(And if you are not interested in the tradition of returning to school, you will be happy to know that many people respond to the question “What returns to the school tradition that you have?” With answers like “None. Just go to school.”)
Here are some of my favorite ideas for the tradition of returning to school!

25 fun back to the school tradition
- Back to school dinner. So far, this is the most popular suggestion. People do all kinds of fun ways, ranging from having closing food first to serving all the opening food of traders Joe, having school lunch style with chicken nuggets and juice boxes, pancakes for dinner or have a table that is arranged with school tablescape including pencils, books, books, etc.
- Cinnamon rolls last night for breakfast the first day. This is the first pleasant day of the school tradition that is not too time consuming because you can prepare the previous night (or you can do a roll of cinnamon from cans to make it easier.
- Pancakes on the first day were formed in class figures. I like this special idea! Other parents say they do it in the form of their graduation year.
- Breakfast at the restaurant on the first day of school If you don’t have the beginning for school days, this is very fun! The woman who handed over this said, “Treat because we have never gone to breakfast. We are now continuing the tradition with our three grandchildren.” I like it that lasted for that long!
- Dry the morning before, then go for donuts. Genius to do dry running so you make sure everyone knows where their backpacks, what time you need to wake up (and the alarm is arranged correctly!), And what time you need to get out of the door. And the donuts afterwards make it very fun!
- Special treat after the first day of school. This is another suggestion that is very popular with snacks ranging from root beer buoys to shave ice to homemade cakes.
- Sonic drinks on the first Friday pickup. If the first day of school feels too crazy, happy to celebrate the first weekend with a pleasant treat together.
- Watch a school -themed film together. POP Some Popcorn and Queuing Film – Included by films that are recommended MATILDA or Amazed.
- Lunch and movie dating together. A teacher said, “My son and my child have lunch and the film the day before the work day of my teacher began.” What a fun way to end summer!
- Return to Sundae Sunday School. This appeared several times – on Sunday before the first day of the school family or the environment hosting the ice cream party Sunday night with all toppings.
- Soundtrack for the first day of school. I like the idea of waking up your children on the first day with a pleasant song or soundtrack – one parent suggests the song Back to school again from Fat 2 soundtrack.
- Calculate the “Happy New Year” Confetti before going to the night before school. This is a pleasant idea to make him feel festive and exciting!
- Read Kissing hands together. If you have a nervous child starting school, this sweet book is a good way to talk about that nerve.
- Inventory of scavenger hunting schools. This is a pleasant advice – my children like to hunt scavengers and I know this will be a big hit in our home.
- Mini cupcakes at first school lunch. The first day of lunch was very pleasant and opening your lunch box to find a mini cupcake would be a pleasant surprise.
- Milkshake night before school starts. Are you going for them or making it at home, this is a good way to absorb the last summer together before the first day of school!
-
The first day of school photos. This is a tradition of returning to other favorite schools. Some families do fashion show with the first day of school clothes or ask children to hold a sign with their current grades or ask them to wear the same shirt as “class X” on it every year. One family shared that they wrote the names of each child in the entrance with chalk and asked the child to lie with him. Other families say they did it the night before because the morning was too disturbed.
- Make cakes for teachers. This is a fun way to burn nervous energy the day before school and a good way to start the first day of school!
- The first day of the school cake. A mother says she makes funfetti cakes every year for the first day of school. Other parents said, “I buy XXXX cake topper classes on Etsy and every year to bake cakes and take photos. At his high school graduate party, I will display the photos and use the topper on the cake!”
- Special dinner after meeting the teacher’s night. Many schools have a night that meets the teacher about one or two weeks before school begins and it can be a pleasant night to get out for a dinner afterwards or a pleasant dinner at home.
- Return to school dating one by one. A parent said, “We do an individual date where children choose activities. We look forward to this every year.” This is a good way to spend a little time with your child before they return to school and also talk about the coming year and all the excitement or nerves that they might feel.
- This new wallet size image from family. This is very sweet – I like the idea of slipping family photos in their notebooks or backpacks so they know they are loved and part of the family when they go to school.
- Back to school shopping. This is another super popular suggestion. Some families make them one-on-one date, and some have specific items they buy every year such as back-to-school clothes, special shirts, new backpacks, or lunch boxes or a pair of new shoes.
- Fill backpacks with school supplies for children in need. Easy to forget in the pleasure of returning to the school tradition that some children don’t even have a basis – this is a good way to help your community or school and help your child recognize the needs of others around them.
- Choose themes for this year. Many families say they introduce this at dinner back to school or on weekends before school begins. This is a good way to focus on what you want to achieve or how you want to act in the coming year and make everyone participate.

One other response that I like: “We also have many traditional emotional disorders of the first week.” The first week is a big change for children and family and knows that there will be many feelings and tiring help you manage it as happened!
Is there a pleasant first day of school traditions or activities back to school? I want to hear!
