Audio books that are heard to return to school
This post is sponsored by Audible
With the back-to-school season in a full swing, you are likely to do more driving around whether it is Carpooling to and from school or driving to football or dancing or music training and other events.
I don’t like spending a lot of time in the car, but when we have to, a good audio book makes it much more fun.
I have collected 3 lists of 5 favorite lists for small listeners who have just entered the audio book (thinking about children aged 3-6 years!), One for elementary and old school listeners with books that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and one to listen to adults when you are in a solo car and can choose the right title for you!
All of these titles are available from Audible and if you are not a member that can be heard at this time, you can register here (if you have just been heard, you will get a free month to try it! I also have a 101 post that is heard here to start).

Audio book for small listeners

Mercy Watson by Kate DiCamillo
There is something very fun about couples who treat their pigs like children. My girls are obsessed with these books and I like it a little longer (more like 20 minutes for each story) and every set that sounds has 2 stories on it.

Frog & Frog Audio Collection by Arnold Lobel
Read by the author, this is very fun. They have fun music and I feel happy every time I hear this in the car or play in our house. I like every sweet story and my girls have listened to the entire collection of millions of times.

Treasury for James Herriot’s children by James Herriot, read by Jim Dale
I grew up in James Herriot – my mother was a big fan – and she introduced my girls to her sweet stories about being an agricultural veterinarian. He gave us this collection which was meant especially for children and it was extraordinary. And, right when you think the story cannot be better, they are read by Jim Dale from Harry Potter Audiobook Fame.

Ribsy by Beverly Cleary
Oh, how much I love Bever. I think the books may be some of the best children’s books ever written and they are very pleasant in the audio. I am quite sure Bart and I can recite the entire book from memory because Star listening to this in the year he was repeated 3 years old.
Audio books for the whole family

Taman Linda by Linda Sue
When I work more seriously to read all the winners of Newbery, I take this one, don’t know anything about it. A story about pottery in Korea is 12th century may not be heard thrilling but this book is very phenomenal. I listened to him again with my girls a few years ago and we were all fascinated. I might cry in the driver’s chair several times. (Complete review here)

Savvy by Ingrid Law
I only like this book about a family where everyone gets a magical talent (smart) when they are 13 years old. But right before MIBS’s 13th birthday, a tragedy occurred and now MIBS really hopes that his intelligence will turn into something that can save his family. This is one of what I mentioned in the list of the most listened audio books in our library that was heard. (Complete review here)

Ghost by Jason Reynolds
Ghost is a runner who is very fast – starting with running from his dangerous father when he was a child. Now, he mostly escaped his problems to the Olympic coach who turned into a coach seeing Ghost’s extraordinary raw talents and wanted to help him use it for the Junior Olympics. But Ghost had to stop running from his past so that it happened and that might be the hardest thing he had ever done. This is the first book in the four book series, each of which focuses on different track team members. Jason Reynolds is a big name in the world of children’s literature for good reasons – this book is fire.

Framed by James Ponti
Ella has liked the books of City Spies, so when I found this mystery series by the same writer, I took the three for Ella who blew it in a week. This series follows Florian Bates which is the only child owned by the FBI Director in the speed (and a child who wants to be guarded by many criminals). After moving to DC, Florian and his new friend Margaret revealed the mystery involving a large crime ring, FBI and the national gallery. It’s up to them to complete mysteries and finish their homework.

Mona Lisa disappeared by Nicholas Day
This is one of my nonfiction options for a daily summer reading guide for 2024. That is the perfect book to read before our family’s journey to Paris, and that makes a visit to Louvre more fun (not only talking about Mona Lisa’s theft but also about the painting, Leonardo da Vinci, and other famous artists). I don’t know about this many history and it’s fast and done well! Very fun for adults and children -children!
Audio books for adults

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand
This is the most pleasant audio book that you can listen to (and what I get is more positive feedback than almost all other books that I have ever recommended). This is based on the true story of Lady Jane Gray who was the Queen of England for 9 days before she was killed. This is full of laughter and completely planning a bend and perhaps the most pleasant one I’ve ever heard of audio. (Complete review here).

As you want: an unimaginable story from making a princess bride by Cary Elwes
If you grow with The Princess Bride As I did, it was almost impossible for a book that was more fun than this. I like all behind the scenes about making this film. After I convinced Bart to listen to it too, we watched the movie again and liked it more, knowing so many funny things about various scenes and actors. The best of all, they managed to get almost all the original actors to record their stories in this book, so hearing their voices is an additional bonus. (Complete review here)

Chemist by Stephanie Meyer
This basically feels like the film Jason Bourne in the form of an audio book, with female interrogation officers for one of the US government institutions. He is known as a chemist because he uses chemical cocktails to get information from his subject, but now he is less worried about his work and is more worried about his life because the agency is now trying to kill him. This is only fun to listen to many moments of lauhg-out-out-say what you want about Stephenie Meyer, but he can write some sharp dialogue. (Complete review here)

Mother -in -law by Sally Hepworth
This is a book from the 2020 summer reading guide and is very fun – Audio books are very good. A mother -in -law who appeared dead was told from the perspective of the mother -in -law and daughter -in -law. I like this one.

Be mortal: medicine and what is important in the end by Atul Gawand
You know this is a good audio book when you listen while driving literally beach-to-beach (North Carolina to California) and you want more time to listen. This book focuses on the idea that currently medicine has a great ability to fight disease, but in the end everyone will die and how, from medical and from a personal perspective, the best way to face that reality is. I know that it sounds very boring and sad, but it’s really true but. I can’t get enough and I silently think everyone must read this book. (This has more than 46,000 reviews on Amazon with an average of 4.7, so it’s not just me who likes this book). (Complete review here)
