Meet neurocritical care nurses practitioners

We asked 7 brief questions to Lombardi to get to know him better.

1. What is the most inspiring and forming your approach to patient care?

The people I do and the mentor I have. When I talk to the patient, I often hear the words of a supervisor or educator that I have at one point. Able to take small pieces from the practice that I admire and weave it into my own practice has really helped shape how I approach health care today.

2. What is your favorite part of your job?

People, whether it is a patient and began to have a major impact on their health care, or coworkers who work with me. This is an environment that makes stress where we work, but can have fun with each other during this time and still doing very great work is very important.

3. What is your biggest fear as a patient?

Thinking, “What is the worst thing that can happen?” I think working in the ICU environment, we see the worst. So it changes many of us into hypochondriacs. We wonder, “Is this time when I will hear the big news that will change life?”

4. What do you do to get rid of stress?

I like to go outside. I like to go to the mountains. We have many good fields to explore in Virginia. I came from Midwest, which is a very flat area, so having a nearby mountain is really interesting. Also, we have a good amount of land where we live, so there is always a project. There is always something to do to work with my hands and make me busy and busy.

5. Dogs or cats?

I like all animals, but I must be dogs. I have two dogs.

6. The last film you watch? Thumb up or down?

The latest poison film, which is terrible.

7. The best advice you have ever heard of?

Don’t take too seriously. Back when I worked in retail in a container store, people were very stressed. Everyone is very intense. One of our regional directors came and was above us because we were working on every small thing. He raised his hand and said, “Friends, we sell plastic boxes.” And that puts everything in a very fast perspective for all of us.
